Transformers Movie 2 Deluxe Autobot Skids Decide Now

This toy was purchased for my 4 yr old who will be 5 in February. Neither my husband and I can successfully follow the paper instructions and my son has no interest in learning either, it's too hard. The "ages 5+" statement is totally misleading. I will be following another reviewers advice and view the instructions on youtube. This toy was pretty disappointing! We also have lower level Optimus Prime, Grimlock and Bumblebee. Bumblee is the only one my 4 yr old and 2.5 yr old enjoy because he really does transform easily. I can do Grimlock if I'm careful, but Optimus has me stumped. Grimlock's main problems are the fact that his little plastic parts often snap open when you're tryiny to transform him, not that the actual transformation instructions are tricky. I figured him and Bumblebee out without instructions. Optimus, well, I may have to look at his instructions. Monsters vs Aliens Missing Link Action Figure Right now

The Missing Link is bigger than expected. I was expecting more from the toy given the description. The arms don't "slash" like I thought they would, they fall. Meaning you pose them up, and press the button and they fall down. Description makes it seem as they go up and down, or maybe ours is defective. I also thought there was a tail "flip", but the tail does nothing. I'm guessing you can manually flip the tail to the left or right.
There are two buttons on the back, seems both buttons serve the same purpose, to release the arms and let them fall. It became a bath toy for my 5 year old, atleast he finds the floating cool. While the IDEA of assembling your own creatures is great, and our son loves putting together the various pieces to create new "guys," this toy is poorly made and will remain forever in our memories as a BAD idea. Our family endured 3 hours of frustration - both child and adult - because this toy is so difficult to enjoy. Each alien requires a TINY grey piece in order to be attached to another part or to the chamber. This is day 2 and several of these have already fallen off and some are lost (no extras are provided!) All the parts are so tiny and difficult to insert that the toy is not appropriate for a 4-year old's manual agility (or a 40-year old) Once we get the alien's parts in the chamber to "create" him, the dials become immobile. Once we mobilize the dials and turn the creation button, it's almost impossible for a grown-up to, as the instructions dictate, to "lock" the parts and the press the button to pop out the new creature. My husband has to come over and press the button every time. VERY frustrating. Many tears and fits later, we will not recommend this toy. Great idea, poor implementation. I really needed to get The Fallen for my TF collection. One of things that disappointed me even before I bought this figure was the fact that the ROTF toyline doesn't have any Ultra Class figures. Ideally, the Fallen should be bigger than the a regular Voyager class... so either Ultra or Leader.

Kinda put off by the fact that this hands can't hold anything (gun/spear), and not really impressed by the 'solar panels' around his head and arms. Beyond that, the concept with his feet are really cool and he poses pretty well.

The transformation to the jet was one of more difficult ones I've done, but not impossible. I think the jet mode is really lame though... as some others mentioned, they made the robot and figured they had to come up with an alternate mode and just force-fitted the alien destroyer mode. It's not bad, but not great either.

I bought this for my 7-year-old son who LOVES Star Wars, but doesn't like Clone Wars (the stores only seem to carry Clone Wars items, so we were happy to find this backpack on Amazon). I decided after three months that it was worth it. I was right. I have gotten so many quirky comments from people at my college about how neat they think it is that I have a time turner. Frequently, they ask me to read what's written on the rings. I think at this point, I may have them memorized within the week.
Other reviewers have mentioned that it is breakable. It is very fragile, but if you take care of it and don't bonk it on things, it will be fine. I pay special attention to the hour glass because the glass seems really thin. The only thing I have to say that is not positive is that I was expecting the chain to be longer. I think it would have been neat to have the chain much longer. But, it still looks great with the length that it's at now.

The plastic this toy is made from, is flexible, so less change of breakage. It was easy to put together, for an adult. Some of the parts need some strength, so I don't recommend a child putting it together.

Overall, the detail is nice. The underside is almost devoid of markings though. But the rest of the creature has plenty of detail. The clear stand is a nice way to display it.

Overall, this is not really a toy to "play" with. Its more a model to be admired, but its durable enough to withstand some light play. Though I don't recommend this for young children. I got it for my daughter who is 11 and she isn't one to beat it to death, so its working out just fine.

James Cameron's Avatar Na'vi Neytiri Action Figure Order Now

Why I am qualified to speak: I have been collecting action figures since the first Star Wars figures back in the 1970s. I have thousands of 1:18 action figures (literally THOUSANDS).

I Paid $[...] for this figure (movie pre-release sale [...]) and feel that it is about $2 over-priced. I see that they are now $[...] to $[...] at various stores and that price is way over the value mark. Pick this up at $5 or less when they go on clearance (I can't imagine people will buy tons of these at $10 a pop).

It appears that this character is released in the same quantities as all of the other characters and is not short packed, ALTHOUGH, some stores received different types of cases with different contents. I saw a freshly stocked endcap at Wal-mart and all characters had at least 4 representatives. Neytiri had 6, Na'vi Jake had more than 10.

The good:
-Pretty 2-tone paint scheme. You can't tell it is Neytiri, but you can tell it is Na'vi and female.
-The arms are jointed at the elbows. As thin as the arms are, it is nice to see them get elbow joints instead of the stiff, one-piece arms many female characters get (Uhura).
-The loin cloth has the loop for the tail (Cute detail).
-This figure will stand out in any 1:18 collection and is the best of the Na'vi bunch.

The bad:

SCALE:
-I wish all the various companies would settle on a standard 1:18 scale for their figures and then honor that scale with acute attention to detail. This figure stands almost eye to eye with GI Joe Heavy Duty (just a bit taller). And the Na'vi characters are not nearly tall enough to be on scale with the AVATAR human figures, either. She is tall but not tall enough.

-The figure's head and face are too small for the body (tiny, human eyes).

-The figure has cankles... necessary (maybe) for articulation, but they ruin the shape and flow of the leg.

ARTICULATION
- GI Joe and Star Wars (Hasbro) have mastered articulation so it confounds me why everyone else keeps putting out lesser joint attempts. Neytiri has all of the major joints, but they are fragile and cheap. I don't think there is any metal anywhere in the figure so I wouldn't put money on the joints not wearing out.

-The tail is not articulated and is stuck out to the side.

ACCESSORIES

- The bow and arrow are cast as one piece and are always in the drawn position. Unfortunately, there are no other accessories.
- The base doubles as an I-cam ID 3D thing that doesn't interest me (requires an app install which I won't contaminate my PC with).

CONCLUSION:

I like this figure and I'll keep it as a curiosity but I am not interested in getting the rest of the series due to the low production quality, low detail, and inaccurate scale (not to mention the ridiculous price). There is no way I would let my children play with this due to the joint frailness.

Lowest Price Fisher Price Imaginext Submarine

This was a gift for our 2-1/2 year old son. It was reasonably priced and he has played with it for hours. His older brother who is 7 has also played with it.

It is well put together and easy for him to manipulate the guys and their equipment. It has wheels on the bottom which makes it easy for him to move it around on the floor. Another positive is that the guys from the other FP Imaginext sets also fit into the submarine which is great because you never know when Batman will need to go deep sea diving!

Overall, we have not been disappointed with any of the FP Imaginext sets and both our boys love playing pretend play with them. Every once in a while my daughter will even jump in to use the castle or take the sub for a spin.

Low Price Agricola ZMG 7026

This is one of my favorite games currently.

You start with 2 family members (playing pieces in your color) and a little bit of land. Players take turns placing their family members on action spaces on the board and collecting or using the resources as indicated. Once everyone has placed their family members, they are all returned "home" (removed from the action spaces), a new action space becomes available, and the next round starts.

It's important to prioritize your actions, and to pay attention to what other people may need, as you can't place your family members on action spaces that are already occupied.

You use resources to build buildings and fences, grow grain and vegetables, and raise sheep, pigs, and cows- as well as to feed and grow your family. The biggest and most diverse farm at the end wins (you score points for almost everything you do).

I strongly prefer the "family" game rules (the "non-family" game has everyone start with a hand of 14 cards that do various things, in addition to the normal available actions), as I feel the cards add a lot more options without adding much depth of strategy (and especially for beginners, the "non-family" game is just 14 cards worth of confusion).

This is a challenging game, takes a couple of hours on average to play, and has tons of replayability (and it's fun to watch your little farm grow as the game progresses).Get more detail about Agricola ZMG 7026.

Save Transformers Movie 2 Voyager Iron Hide

I grew up as a G1 transformers and it's been a little hard to get used to the modern incarnations of old friends. But, my son and I want to play transformers together, so we have been buying the new ones. Ironhide is one of my favorite G1 autobots so I thought I'd try out his new incarnation in the live action movie toyline, REVENGE OF THE FALLEN, especially since it's a voyager-class toy (which my son and I prefer).

Initially, I was troubled by Ironhide's new sculpt. Isn't he supposed to be a red conversion van? OTOH, this Ironhide actually has a head, which is a real plus. This Ironhide is a GMC pickup truck with a grey-and-black color scheme. It's not very flashy, but I guess a weapons specialist might prefer not to stand out in a crowd. The truck has an enormous missile launcher and cannon combination weapon. The barrel of the cannon can project out either side, and the missile launcher can rotate relative to the cannon, and the whole weapon can fit backwards or forwards in the grooves on the truck bed; it is very possible to put the weapon on backwards, which fits but doesn't look right. The missile launcher is also asymmetric, which I don't understand; it looks like it is leaning off to one side (though it is not). Also, the weapon doesn't stay in the grooves very well; it feels as if it should pop into the grooves but won't. Despite these complaints, the truck mode looks very sleek and powerful, and it has a gigantic double-sided weapon, so who can complain?

The robot mode of Ironhide has more problems than the truck mode. My biggest complaint is that the chest piece that separates the hood "wings" appears incomplete; it seems that it needs to snap somewhere or connect to something but it doesn't. The lack of connection is visually displeasing. The other major problem are the legs; the panels from the automorph feature obstruct the legs from closing enough to stand straight. This can be seen in most pictures of Ironhide, where his legs are splayed somewhat. This makes him wobbly, which is unfortunate b/c his parts pop off easily. It's better than breaking, but it must be embarassing to be a weapons specialist who keeps falling over and going to pieces. I don't like the new face, but the toy isn't to blame for that. The yellow piping on the robot looks cool on the black robot parts, and the weapon comes apart to form two weapons, which fit on the sides of Ironhide's arms (sidearms, hehe) very nicely.

Finally, the transformation has a real problem fitting together. The connection between the chest and the waist has three pegs which do not fit into their respective holes. With enough pressure they will fit, but applying that pressure to the rest of the toy is worrisome. Also, a lot of torque must be applied to rotate the chest relative to the waist by 180 degrees, and this is putting a lot of strain on the toy. I doubt most 5 yo have the strength to manipulate this toy correctly.

In conclusion, Ironhide is a nice looking robot and truck. I have qualms about the transformation between or about durability during play. For a collector's piece or for an older child he is probably fine.
