My older son saw this toy in a museum gift shop, and kept asking about it for weeks, so I got it for him for his 4th birthday, and it was well worth it.
I'm not sure how "educational" a Jeep toy is, but he has a lot of fun with it. The one quibble I have, and it's a minor one, is that it comes with a baby dinosaur & alligator, and you're supposed to stow them in the back. But the two animals are kind of oddly shaped (as they would have to be -- they're animals, not packing crates), so it's a bit fiddly to get them both into the back. You have to stick the alligator in while the back & sides are open, then close the sides, then drop in the dinosaur from the top & finish closing the top & back doors.
This bothers me more than my son though, he just has fun playing with it, which is of course the whole point.
(And his 1 year old brother has been having fun chasing the truck around when we roll it, too. This product does not last very long with normal play. The sound is too quiet and you have to place your ear close to it just to hear what it says. In less than a week, the electronics of the sound stopped working all together but the light still blinked somewhat. We tried new batteries so it wasn't caused by that. I wanted to return for replacement, but the seller did not have one to replace it. Because they no longer sell this version in the stores, apparently other sellers are asking a lot more than what I paid for it. I decided to keep the broken one with all its characters and buy the one available at the store, but there is one problem. The one available at the store does not recognize the brown plastic character that was unique to the set I bought on amazon. Overall, I would stick to the one sold in stores. At least you can more easily return them if it stops working. Bought this for 5 yr. old son, he loved it, and it was easy to use.
Sadly, as you can see, pieces for aliens are TINY, so they're either found painfully underfoot, or lost completely. Though toy can be used as storage for pieces, the top and bottom 'covers' are not secured- just rests on it, so when carrying around, the covers come off and spill everything out. Cards that come with separate piece purchases also cannot fit correctly into toy, so you'll have to store them elsewhere.
Otherwise, my son seems to like it, though after 2 years, he's lost about 1/2 of the alien pieces. He/we enjoy the Ben10 Omnitrix watch much more, since it's just one big piece, with attachable pieces that are not easily misplaced. Get more detail about Ben 10 Alien Force Alien Creation Challenge.
